FiftyForward Endowment

(formerly Senior Citizens Foundation)

About the Endowment

The FiftyForward Endowment is an independent, nonprofit entity dedicated to securing the long range financial future of FiftyForward in two primary ways:

  • Ensuring the careful stewardship of the Endowment by guiding its spending policy, and
  • Providing education and outreach to champion FiftyForward’s mission, programs and services

Established in 1984 with an initial bequest of $50,000, The Senior Citizens Endowment, now FiftyForward Endowment, has grown to a net worth of approximately $2.7 million in 2008 and provides about 5% of that in annual support for the agency’s centers and programs.

In addition, in 2002 Metro Nashville Government named Senior Citizens, Inc. trustee of the Knowles Trust. FiftyForward Endowment manages these funds for FiftyForward. The addition of these trust funds substantially increased the corpus of investments managed by the Endowment.

Included in the endowment are several accounts: an overall FiftyForward general account, plus a designated account for centers and programs. Donors may stipulate any of these accounts to receive the proceeds of their gifts to the Endowment. (See “Ways to Give” below.)

Endowment Management

The FiftyForward Endowment board is led by a skilled team of volunteers who represent both a commitment to and close association with FiftyForward, as well as representing a wealth of experience and expertise.

Currently, Diversified Trust Company (Nashville office) manages the investments of the Endowment, under the direction of the FiftyForward Endowment Investment Committee and Board of Trustees. The board’s executive committee meets regularly with Diversified to monitor the results of its management.
