Welcome to FiftyForward Martin Center!
accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers
Seated on 5.6 acres, largely woods, the center’s rustic wood-and-stone beauty impresses all who walk through its doors. Since opening in December 2002, FiftyForward Martin Center has seen a significant, constant growth in membership and in community attention and use.
Members flock here for a spectrum of classes and programs. Popular exercise classes are Pilates, flex exercise, low-impact aerobics, tai chi and yoga. Special interest groups respond to members’ programming requests: Word Smiths, Inc. (writers), Historical Seniors, Geneaology Group, Mountain Dulcimer musicians, Martin Men, Wine Sippers, Book Club, art classes and the standard social attraction of card and board games.
A number of Brentwood/Franklin area civic groups like to hold their meetings at FiftyForward Martin Center, which is also a popular site for weddings, receptions, reunions, birthdays and other special events.
To learn more about the center’s numerous programs and activities, visit www.themartincentertn.org. To arrange for a tour, please call 376-0102. E-mail scoss@fiftyforward.org to receive a digital version of the most recent center newsletter, which also is available at the reception desk. In addition, the monthly schedule of classes and events is printed in Forward Focus. Copies of the newspaper are available at area public libraries, at the Publix in Maryland Farms and at Wild Oats in Cool Springs, as well.
Special Events
The largest fundraising event is a Music and Memories concert. (For the past two years, Beegie Adair and her Trio have delighted the appreciative audiences.) A popular fall event, the first-class Martin Masters Art Show features the work of FiftyForward Martin and College Grovecenter artists, teachers and invited community artists.
Volunteer Opportunities
A volunteer cadre of members fills a variety of important roles at the FiftyForward Martin Center. Community volunteers are also welcome. Call 376-4330 for more information.
